The Great Indian IPL Tamasha

It has begun, it has picked up the pace and it has become much more than cricket.
IPL; Indian Premier League; is not just about cricket. In fact, some have gone to distances to say that it has nothing to with cricket. Laughable.....But here's a pick :-
1. How important are those cheerleaders in raising the standard of cricket?
2. Can't the people and players alike survive without Strobe lights?
3. What do you say when spectators are glued to the sights of celebs than cricketers?
4. The way players were "sold", it looks as if they are goats. But the goats are sold by some benchmarks and these Stars were sold by eh.......benchmarks?? Laxman; a splendid player and skipper of a team; was actually playing the only player in the team playing his "debut" match.....
5. You find stars performing stunts before match and that makes headlines........
6. Two cricketers are caught in skirmish. One says: "He slapped me"....
Other: "I didn't".....
Is this a "Saas-Bahu" melodrama??
These are very few observations that I have made. Is this what cricket fans expect? No doubt there are great matches as well but are these things necessary to pull an average cricket fan???
It's a new beginning...........
